Alec Simonson: Presentations

Starting dental school in August 2021, Alec Simonson is focused on mastering the art and science of dental medicine. To date, he has earned a Bachelor of Science with Honors degree and a Master of Science degree, both majoring in biological science, at Florida Atlantic University. He is now partway through a Doctor of Medicine degree at the University of Florida, which is expected to be conferred in 2025.

Outside of his studies, Alec spends time providing underprivileged local communities with free dental care via the organization FreeD.O.M. Clinic USA. This clinic provides free dental, optical, and medical care to uninsured or under-insured individuals, as well as health education that includes diabetes and hypertension counseling and nutrition and fitness information.

Alec is a keen player of pickleball and is a member of the UF Pickleball Club. The club organizes weekly practice sessions, and members regularly take part in county and collegiate tournaments. It also hosts frequent social events and opportunities for its members to take part in community service activities.

Alec has often been invited by colleagues and professors to act as a tutor or teaching assistant in various classes that form part of the dental school curriculum, including endodontics, operative dentistry, gross anatomy, and the assessment and neuroscience of pain.

In his free time, Alec enjoys road cycling and golf, as well as Japanese and Italian cuisine. He also likes to work with his hands by carrying out repairs on his bicycle, repairing computers, and learning new skills. He cites his favorite band as Boston and favorite book as The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom.
